A memorial service for Dr. Teiichiro Yoneda, former principal and advisor of Kyoto Computer Gakuin Kyoto Ekimae School, who passed away on June 7, 2016 at the age of 106, was held on May 26, 2017, just before the first anniversary of his death, at the main hall of Kyoto Ekimae Satellite, Kyoto Institute of Information Science, Kyoto, Japan.In addition to current students, faculty, staff, and alumni of Kyoto University of Information Science and Technology, his family members, former students, and others who have close ties to him attended the ceremony to express their condolences and gratitude to Dr. Yoneda once again.
Mr. Yoneda has been teaching at Kyoto Computer Gakuin for nearly 30 years since 1987 as the principal of Rakuhoku School, the principal of Kyoto Ekimae School, and as an advisor.Every year, during the three major festivals in Kyoto, the Aoi Matsuri, Gion Matsuri, and Jidai Matsuri, he gives a "special lecture" and his calm and easy-to-understand explanations are very popular among students, and he has become a famous lecture at Kyoto Computer Gakuin.Even though he is over 100 years old, he continues to teach and has a passion for education.
At the memorial service, after a slide presentation of Dr. Yoneda's career, Lutz Leskowitz (violin) and Misa Hasegawa (piano), who have been performing around the world, dedicated six pieces, including Bach's "Sonata and Partita for Solo Violin BWV 1001 'Adagio' in G minor".At the end of the event, all attendees sang "Song of Lake Biwa Circumnavigation," which was Dr. Yoneda's favorite song.On the way, we received a message from Kyoto Mayor Daisaku Kadokawa, who said, "Mr. Teiichiro Yoneda is a man who always thinks about education and school management from the perspective of students.I have learned a lot myself.He is truly the pride of our city's educators.We are deeply grateful for his achievements and legacy.A small banquet was held after the concert.
