Measures (e-learning support) in response to the spread of the new influenza pandemic

Dear Students

Due to the confirmation of a new strain of influenza in Kyoto City on Thursday, May 21, Kyoto Prefecture and Kyoto City have requested that all schools be closed. The University will not close school or cancel classes, but will take measures to suspend attendance at school for classes.

From Friday, May 22 to Wednesday, May 27, classes will be conducted via e-learning.Please note that each instructor has a different way of teaching using the Blackboard learning system.

All events, etc., in which more than one student will face each other will be cancelled or alternative arrangements will be made.In principle, job guidance and career counseling are also provided via e-mail.Club and circle activities and other activities that involve more than one student face-to-face should be cancelled and conducted by correspondence if necessary.

In addition, students should continue to take the following measures to prevent the spread of infection.

  1. Please take good care of yourself, and if you have any symptoms such as fever, cough, or any other symptoms that may indicate influenza infection, please call the Fever Center or other counseling centers and receive instructions before receiving medical attention.
  2. Please take thorough precautions to prevent infection.
    • refrain from going out on business
    • Thorough gargling and hand washing
    • Wear a mask (when you are in an enclosed space such as a train or bus, or when you have no choice but to go outside).
  3. Job-seeking students have more opportunities for infection due to their wider range of activities. Please take all precautions against infection as described in [2], and take good care of yourself. If you have symptoms such as fever, cough, or any other symptoms that suggest influenza infection, please do not attend the information session or employment examination, but contact the company to which you are applying and the Career Center (see below). The Career Center will be open during periods when students are not in school due to classes.(Please call or e-mail first to let us know how we can help you.)
  4. More information about the e-learning classes will be posted on the campus portal and Blackboard learning system.
  5. We ask that each student accurately assess his or her own situation and act based on calm judgment.
