The CG AniCup is a team competition in which amateur CG animation creators from around the world bring together their 10-minute works and form teams according to country to compete for the best results. Each team is composed of five works, and the works are presented in the same way as in team competitions in judo and kendo, from the "Spearhead" to the "General," with the creators adding their comments.
In the "Japan-EU-Taiwan Friendship Match," the Japanese side was eager to put their national and regional prestige on the line and win the competition with their winning entries in the "CG Animation Contest," while the EU and Taiwanese side were eager to win the competition with their winning entries in their respective contests. The jury will consist of five judges, including Associate Professor Koh Li of KCGI, seven associate judges who will participate via the Internet, and the winner will be decided by votes cast via the Internet and the amount of applause from the audience. The entries were so strong that in some cases the judges, the audience, and the Internet were divided in their evaluations, but the EU team came out on top in three of the five rounds, winning the championship.
The 24th CG Animation Contest was preceded by the "24th CG Animation Contest - Screening of Selected Works," which showcased nine excellent works by Japanese animation creators that did not make it to the Anime Cup.
The contest is the most traditional competition in Japan for individually produced CG animation (personal CG animation), and has received more than 6,000 entries to date, producing many top creators who are active both in Japan and abroad.
