On Saturday, August 11, a trial run of the "ET Robocon," a competition to see how well robots with embedded software can run, was held at Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG).The ET Robocon is a competition to see how smoothly a self-propelled robot of a certain specification can run on a course with various obstacles such as hills. The competition is based on the design model of the running software and the results of actually running the robot. The Kansai Conference is held every year at KCG.
In the trial run, each participating group runs the robot with the software on a real course to find out the problems and to get hints for improvement. On this day, a course was set up in a KCG classroom, and the robots blasted off on the course.Although there were no robots that made it all the way to the end, each team seemed to be getting a good sense of what they were up to.
ET Robocon Kansai will be held on September 16 and 17 at Kyoto Station Satellite Hall, Kyoto Institute of Information Science.
