The NEC (NEC Corporation) "NEAC System 100," which is preserved and exhibited at the KCG Archives, was selected by the Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ, President Kazuo Furukawa) as a "Certified Equipment" of the "Information Processing Technology Heritage" and received the certificate on March 6 at the 74th National Convention of the Society, which was held at the Gokisho-cho, Showa-ku, Nagoya, at the Nagoya Institute of Technology. This is the fourth KCG Resource Center machine following the "TOSBAC-3400" and "OKITAC 4300C System," which received the nation's first certification in fiscal 2008, and the "NEAC-2206" in fiscal 2010.
The NEAC System 100 was an early office computer released by NEC in 1973. It was the first computer at this level in Japan to be equipped with communication control functions, enabling slip processing, batch processing, and online processing. At the time, it was utilized as an excellent terminal computer. They are stored and displayed in the new building of KCG Kyoto Ekimae School (KCGI Kyoto Ekimae Satellite).
The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics and Kyoto Computer Gakuin have preserved and exhibited past computers, etc. that have been used in education, practical training and research for about 50 years as KCG Museum. In 2008, the KCG Museum was accredited by the Information Processing Society of Japan as a "Distributed Computer Museum" for the first time in Japan. In order to pass on the technology that supported Japan's rapid economic growth to the next generation, TUAT is planning to develop the Kyoto Ekimae Campus into a "computer museum" that will be widely used as a place for research and education.
