A chorus circle “U-Choir” composed of students, guardians, and faculty members of The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) and Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) was held at the Yahata City Cultural Center on Sunday, June 9 Performed at the 50th Kyoto Choral Festival. The students sang with a fresh voice, fully demonstrating the results of their daily practice and filling the hall with their fresh singing voices.
They sang "Tsubasa wo Kudasai" and "YELL" (Ikimono-gakari).Since many of the club members are international students from China, we decided to sing "Tsubasa wo Kudasai" in Chinese, and the Japanese members received extensive instruction in pronunciation from the international students before the day of the event. The audience enjoyed the performance and applauded warmly.
Like the KCG Group, this year's Kyoto Chorus Festival, now in its 50th year, was attended by approximately 120 groups. The four groups sang nursery rhymes together, as is their tradition, together with the children's choir and a male chorus group of university alumni, singing "Spring Has Come," "Medaka no Gakko" and "Kisha Poppo. Not only international students but also Japanese student club members who had never heard of these nursery rhymes seemed to be delighted to be able to share their voices with people of various generations.
