Dr. Ken Suekawa, visiting professor at Kyoto Institute of Information Science, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, August 4 due to heart failure.He was 49 years old.He has contributed greatly to the development of the University's education.We extend our deepest condolences.

Dr. Suekawa was born in Kyoto, Japan on January 16, 1961.His grandfather was Dr. Hiroshi Suekawa, former professor at Kyoto University and honorary president of Ritsumeikan University, and his father was Dr. Kiyoshi Suekawa, professor emeritus at Ritsumeikan University.After graduating from Kyoto Prefectural Kamoyi High School and the Faculty of Science at Kyoto University, he worked for Bandai Co.He has produced numerous animations, including "Nintama Rantaro" broadcast on NHK and "The Twelve Kingdoms".
Kyoto University of Information Science and Technology has welcomed Dr. Suekawa as a visiting professor to teach the course "Research on Creative Industries" from 2009.The lecture from a business perspective, including the current state of the animation industry, which is one of Japan's representative industries, the animation production process, marketing, and international strategies, was interesting and meaningful for students studying web business technology.In addition, Kyoto Computer Gakuin, one of our group schools, also gave a lecture on the animation industry and business perspectives as a cultural lecture.
Dr. Suekawa answered each question carefully during the online discussion using the university's learning support system, and his earnest and warm personality made him especially popular among the students.We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and pray for his peaceful repose.
