Fundraising for Nepal earthquake relief on May 23 and 24

The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) students' group (representative: Ms. Yutoku) will hold a fund-raising activity near Sanjo Ohashi Bridge in Kyoto City from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on May 23 and 24.We encourage students to participate and cooperate.

More than 7,400 people have been confirmed dead so far from the massive earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25, and the death toll is expected to eventually reach 15,000.More than 14,000 people have been injured and more than one million people are seeking shelter. There are people on the same planet who are suffering from the loss of family members, hurt, homelessness, and lack of food and medicine. As a university with close ties to Nepal through university partnerships and mutual dispatches of international students and faculty members, we at Tohoku University and the KCG Group pray for the souls of those who lost their lives and sincerely hope for the speedy recovery and restoration of the injured. The student council planned a fundraising campaign to somehow extend a helping hand.

Consideration and service for the weak is one of the proud traditions of the The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics Student Council. In the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Sichuan Earthquake in China, our students stood up for those affected by the disasters by organizing fundraising events.

We hope that the goodwill and supplies we receive will be used through the Japanese Red Cross Society to provide support and relief to those affected by the disaster and to help rebuild the affected areas.
