Qinghai Earthquake Support the victims and recovery of my hometown! Chinese students and others to donate on the street from 14

Chinese students from KCGI will hold a street fund-raising campaign in the Kyoto Tower area in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on May 14-16, 2010, in order to help the victims of the earthquake that struck Qinghai Province, China, in April 2010, which caused great damage, as well as the local reconstruction efforts.We appreciate your cooperation.

About 15 Chinese students from KCGI will participate in the activity.The goodwill donated will be donated to Yushu County, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, China, through the Japanese Red Cross Society.

According to news reports, the earthquake that occurred on April 14 in Yushu County, 4,000 meters above sea level in Qinghai Province, China, had an intensity of 7.1.More than 2,000 people were killed, 70 are missing, and more than 12,000 were injured.Near the epicenter, more than 90% of the houses collapsed and there was extensive damage to electrical systems and roads from the airport.Fifteen thousand private homes were destroyed and approximately 100,000 people lost their homes.

The leaders of this year's group, Han Yeong and Kim Young (both first-year students in the Web Business Technology major of KCGI's Graduate School of Applied Information Technology), said, "We are away from our home country now, but we cannot ignore what is going on in our country.One person's strength is limited, but if we all work together, I am sure we can help the local people in any way we can.I would like to work hard together with the people on the disaster site," he said, describing the significance and motivation of the street fundraising campaign.
