The Kyoto Smart City Expo 2015 (organized by Kyoto Smart City Expo Steering Council, consisting of Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City, and other organizations) was held on May 21 and 22 at the Keihanna Open Innovation Center (KICK) in Kansai Science City, Kizugawa and Seika Town, Kyoto Prefecture, to introduce the latest technologies for comfortable urban development utilizing information and communication technologies (ICT).The booth was set up to showcase the efforts of KCG, which is the only educational institution in the world to serve as the registry for the top-level geographical name domain ".kyoto," IT education in cooperation with institutions around the world, and the KCG Museum, which preserves and displays valuable computers from the past.
KCGI will soon open the "Cyber Kyoto Institute" at KICK, the venue of this year's expo, with the theme of developing business using ".kyoto" and building an "Open University of Kyoto" to promote collaborative education with universities around the world using e-learning.On September 4, 2014, the "Cyber Kyoto Research Institute" received the first certification from Kyoto Prefecture as the center's research utilization plan.
