The 2014 Degree Conferment Ceremony of Kyoto Institute of Information Science, Graduation Ceremony of Kyoto Computer Gakuin, Kyoto Japanese Language Training Center, and Kyoto College of Automotive Technology

The graduation ceremony for the 2014 The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) degree, the Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) and Kyoto Japanese Language Training Center (KJLTC), and the Kyoto Automobile College (KCGM) were held on March 21, 2015. The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics was held in the Kyoto Station Satellite Hall.Amidst the growing shortage of IT personnel, the students who have studied together at KCG Group have taken their skills and knowledge with them into the world of work.

Many parents came to the ceremony and filled the hall.At the beginning of the ceremony, KCGI President Toshihide Ibaraki presented the diplomas of "Master of Information Technology (Professional)" to the graduating students.Yuan Xiang, the general secretary who received the award as a representative, has been assigned to work for IBM China.The principals of Rakuhoku, Kamogawa, and Kyoto Ekimae Schools presented diplomas to KCG graduates, the principal of Kamogawa School presented diplomas to KJLTC graduates, and the principal of Kyoto Ekimae School presented diplomas to KCGM graduates.After the ceremony, the KCGI, KCG, and KCGM Grand Prize and Excellence Award winners were presented with certificates of merit and commemorative gifts.

In his address, KCG Group President Wataru Hasegawa told the graduates that the My Number system and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games are the two IT-related topics facing the graduates and their families.At the same time, however, the industry is facing a shortage of human resources.Now is the time for all of you to step up," he encouraged.He reiterated the KCG Group's efforts in Cool Japan, the development of education in the field of applied information, and the start of ".kyoto" management and operation, saying, "How wonderful it would be if our university, which is aiming for its next 100th anniversary, and you, who will be active in society, could grow and develop together.I sincerely wish you good luck in your endeavors," he said in farewell.

President Ibaraki touched on the steady and rapid progress of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and artificial intelligence, saying, "After graduation, you will work in the ICT world, where you will be directly involved not only in the development of new technologies but also in thinking about how to make them useful for human beings, and in the concrete realization of those technologies.I hope that you are fully aware that you are living in such a unique and rewarding era, and that you will make conscious and aware efforts to make the new era as human-friendly as possible," he encouraged.

Next, Mr. Takashi Araga of KCG's Department of Management and Information Sciences (who went on to KCGI) gave his graduation address on behalf of the graduates and alumni: "I am very pleased to announce that I have graduated from KCGI.We have learned a great deal of wisdom from our professors and seniors during our time at the University.I was able to make many invaluable friends, and the time we spent together learning and spending time together was very meaningful and most luxurious," he said, "The influence of information technology, which develops every day, on society is immeasurable.The proper use of technology and knowledge to enrich social life will be the major role of those of us who carry on the traditions of the University.We will continue to study and challenge ourselves every day with the pioneering spirit of our university," he pledged.At the end of the event, all attendees sang "Hotaru no Hikari" (Light of Fireflies).

After the ceremony, the celebration was moved to Kyoto Tokyu Hotel.Graduates and alumni reminisced with faculty and staff with whom they had shared their joys and hardships, and pledged to make great strides in the future.
