On July 2, 2015, KCG Kyoto Ekimae School and Hyakumanben Chionji Temple, the family temple of Dr. Shigeo Hasegawa, the founder and first president of Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG), held a memorial service in honor of the anniversary of his death.Since then, every year on this day, all students and faculty members commemorate the legacy of Dr. Shigeo Hasegawa, who devoted himself to pioneering education in information processing technology.Kando" is the pseudonym of Dr. Shigeo Hasegawa, meaning "a quiet space to meditate away from the secular world.
At the commemorative lecture held at the Kyoto University Graduate School of Information Sciences at The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics, KCG's founder and current instructor, Dr. Atsuko Hasegawa, entitled “The History of Computer Education Creation and Dissemination—The Trajectory of 52 Years of KCG Pioneer Spirit” Recognizing the importance of future information processing education in the early days of computers, KCG was established from a private school, and after that, support for cutting-edge computer education in Japan and overseas computer education, The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics. He looked back on the establishment of the university, the recognition of the distributed computer museum, and the course of the school that has always been a leader in this field.
After the lecture, students and faculty members took a bus to Hyakumanben Chionji Temple to pray for the repose of Dr. Shigeo Hasegawa's soul and further development of KCG.At the Kyoto Ekimae School's booth, students sold homemade yakisoba noodles, hot dogs, shaved ice, and other items, adding a lively atmosphere to the event.
