The 2013 The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) degree ceremony, Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) and Kyoto Japanese Language Training Center (KJLTC), and the Kyoto Automobile College (KCGM), which became a member of the KCG Group, were added for the first time. The graduation ceremony was held on March 21, 2014 at the The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics Kyoto Station Satellite Hall.A representative of graduates and alumni said, "My student life gave me many opportunities.To use technology and knowledge with correct ethics and to enrich the lives of society is the major role that we, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our university, are charged with carrying on the traditions of our university.With a strong pledge that "we will continue to study and challenge ourselves every day with the pioneering spirit of our university in mind," the students who have studied together at KCG Group left for the rough and tumble of society with their skills and knowledge in tow.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of KCG and the 10th anniversary of KCGI.Many parents came to the ceremony and filled the hall.At the beginning of the ceremony, KCGI President Toshihide Ibaraki presented diplomas to the graduates, while the principals of Rakuhoku, Kamogawa, and Kyoto Ekimae Schools presented diplomas to KCG graduates, the principal of Kamogawa School presented diplomas to KJLTC graduates, and the principal of KCGM presented diplomas to KCGM graduates.After the ceremony, the KCGI, KCG, and KCGM Grand Prize and Excellence Award winners were presented with certificates of merit and commemorative gifts.
In his address, KCG Group President Wataru Hasegawa emphasized to the graduates that "Cool Japan" is attracting attention from around the world.He noted that the university is playing a leading role in Cool Japan with the establishment of KCGI's Content Business Course, KCG's IT Voice Acting Course, the new Manga/Anime Seminar, and the establishment of the Kyoto Manga/Anime Society by the KCG Group, and said, "The knowledge and skills you acquire at our university will be a great help for your future expansion into the world.Looking back on the KCG Group's inauguration ceremony on June 1, 2013, he said, "We are embarking on new endeavors such as the opening of the Sapporo satellite of KCGI and the development of the .kyoto registry, which is about to undergo a major change in its appearance.The KCG family circle has grown even larger with the addition of Kyoto College of Automotive Technology.How wonderful it would be if our university, which is aiming for its next 100th anniversary, and you, who will be active in society in the future, could work together to grow and develop together," he said in his farewell address.
President Ibaraki noted that advances in ICT (Information and Communication Technology) are supporting the lives of the elderly and helping to deter crime through the spread of security cameras, but he also noted that bank transfer fraud cases and invasions of privacy are occurring.I hope that you will always think about whether this will brighten our lives or darken them, and I hope that you will use your knowledge from this university to brighten the world," he encouraged.
Next, Mr. Kazuki Maenou of the KCG Network Department gave his graduation address on behalf of the graduates and alumni.We did not know what was right and what was left, but our professors and many seniors helped us.He looked back on his time at the school and said, "To the younger students, please do not give up on taking on challenges.As seniors, we will continue to support them as friends who aspire to the same path.Your free challenge will be the beginning of the new 50 years of Kyoto Computer Gakuin.I wish you all the best in your endeavors and the development of the KCG Group," he called on the participants.At the end of the event, all attendees sang "Hotaru no Hikari" (Light of Fireflies).
After the ceremony, the celebration was moved to Rihga Royal Hotel Kyoto.Graduates and alumni reminisced with faculty and staff with whom they had shared their joys and hardships, and pledged to make great strides in the future.
