President and Family of Columbia Teachers College Visit

Dr. Thomas James, President (Provost) of Columbia Teachers College, visited Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) Kyoto Ekimae Campus on Tuesday, March 31.

Columbia Teachers College is the graduate school of education at Columbia University.Dr. James, accompanied by his wife, Dr. Regina Cortina, who also teaches at Teachers College, and his son, Mr. Alex James, who currently teaches English at a school in Okayama Prefecture, visited the KCG Museum, which tells the history of computers in Japan, and the Kyoto Station Satellite Hall of The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI), which boasts one of the best acoustics in western Japan, as well as the e-learning studio.

Dr. James and his family then met with Wataru Hasegawa, President and CEO of the Foundation, and exchanged views on the state of education in the U.S. and Japan.Dr. James particularly noted the significant effect of e-learning in education, noting that "there is much to be learned from the experience of KCG, a world leader in this field.
