(headquartered in Mitaka City, Tokyo), an animation planning and production company founded by Professor Yasuhiro Takeda of the Kyoto College of The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI), who served as Director and General Manager of the Production Division, has decided to establish a new company, GAINAX WEST, which will serve as its production base in the Kansai region, at Kobe Anime Street, a facility located in a redevelopment building in Nagata Ward, Kobe City, following the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake.Prof. Takeda will be the president of the new company.According to the company, it plans to gather staff for the new company, mainly from the local community, and establish an animation production studio by the end of fiscal 2016 to expand its business into events and product sales.
In January 2015, Gainax announced the establishment of a new company, Fukushima Gainax, and opened an office in Miharu-cho, Fukushima Prefecture.The town will use a closed junior high school to open an animation production studio and a full-scale animation museum that aims to attract more than 30,000 visitors a year, creating local jobs and developing a tourist base to help the town recover from the Great East Japan Earthquake.
