As part of JICA's "Training Program for Distance Education Plan to Improve the Quality and Quantity of Education in Papua New Guinea" to support distance education, an area of focus for Papua New Guinea's independent state, eight officials from the Ministry of Education will visit Kyoto Computer Gakuin Kyoto Ekimae Campus, a group school, for two days on June 6 and 7 to observe and train in internet-based education.KCG, which pioneered the introduction of e-learning systems at other educational institutions and has a proven track record of offering a wide variety of rich distance learning courses, will support the country's efforts.
The country is facing a shortage of educational institutions and teachers while the population of school-aged children is increasing.To compensate for this, we are focusing on distance education using television and other means.
The training will include a tour of KCG's dedicated e-learning studio classroom and an experience of distance learning using the e-learning system.
KCG celebrated its 50th anniversary this year, and on June 1, the 50th anniversary ceremony was held at the Kyoto International Conference Center.His Excellency Gabriel John Clero Dusaba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan, also attended the ceremony and delivered a congratulatory speech.In 2009, KCG donated 53 computers to Goroka University and provided computer education support as part of its long-standing overseas computer education support activities (IDCE).This led to the participation of the Ambassador to Japan in the commemorative ceremony and the implementation of JICA training for senior officials of the Ministry of Education.
