On May 24, the Kyoto Support and Promotion Council for the 40th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) (May 4-7) announced the outline of the "Kyoto Day" to be held on May 5 at the Kyoto International Conference Hall (Sakyo-ku, Kyoto City).
Under the theme of "KYOTO SENSE - Kyoto's Tradition and Innovation for the World," Kyoto's culture and climate will be introduced as an advanced model where cutting-edge industries have grown while coexisting with tradition and the environment, and the city's brand will be promoted to governments and financial officials from around the world.
In the past, "Country Days" were held during the Annual Meetings to explain the investment environment in the host country, but this time, for the first time, the meeting will be held mainly in the host country.
On Kyoto Day, Professor Chihiro Suematsu of the Graduate School of Economics, Kyoto University, will deliver a keynote speech at 1:30 p.m., tentatively titled "Kyoto Style Management: Advanced Kyoto Companies Born of Kyoto's Culture and Climate.In the panel discussion, Atsushi Horiba, president of HORIBA, Saburo Suzuki, president of Mogami Inx, Yutaro Shimode, a maki-e artist, and Maria Macabenta-Ikeda, associate professor at The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics, will exchange views on such themes as the growth of advanced industries and small and medium-sized enterprises, the succession of traditional technologies and environmental awareness.
